As we all know, pop princess Ariana Grande has taken a backseat from the music business following her casting in the much-anticipated Wicked movie musical adaptation. There are two parts of the movie and the first will be out on November 27th of this year. Keep a lookout! With this exciting news, Ariana has also finally come out of hibernation with her much anticipated single comeback “yes, and?”

Review/Personal Thoughts –

I really LOVE the message this song possesses. On top of her beautiful vocals (with that unexpected high note in the beginning), we get a song that can help uplift others. 

“Say that shit with your chest, and

Be your own fuckin’ best (Be your own) friend

Keep moving like, “What’s next?”

“Yes, and?” (Yeah)”

It’s truly a song about being yourself no matter what others think. This can be applied to just about anyone…including herself. As you may have heard, there are quite a few lyrics directly calling out everyone on their comments toward her.

“My face is sitting, I don’t need no disguise (I don’t need no disguise)

Don’t comment on my body, do not reply

Your business is yours and mine is mine

Why do you care so much whose **** I ride?

Why?”

In 2023, there were quite a lot of comments on Ariana, specifically pertaining to her body, her love life, and her face. This bridge is a callout to all of this as she is telling everyone “Your energy is yours and mine is mine” as well as your business and hers alike. Overall, the vibe of the song is comparable to “Be Alright” and the Positions album, with it being quite upbeat and it is a nice song. I’d have to say, I love her old music A LOT, but this isn’t a bad way to comeback at all. Stay tuned for more from the pop princess!
