Jaehyun makes his official solo debut with singles ‘Dandelion’ and ‘Roses’. For this release, he decided to combine the two songs into one music video. From my viewing experience, it seems ‘Dandelion’ is when things are good, and ‘Roses’ is when things aren’t. Dandelion is the antithesis of Roses if you will. I think the video was really conceptually interesting with Jaehyun falling into water at the end of both songs. I also like the use of different flowers to represent different feelings, emotions, and meanings. ‘Dandelion’ being brighter and more lighthearted features sunlight, children, people together, and just overall chill vibes visually. ‘Roses’, on the contrary, features darker scenes and outfits, separation of those once together, and red, which in this song is “a cold reminder” of the person he was romantically involved with. I enjoyed both of the songs a lot and listen to them often. They both are R&B style and really put me in a comfortable mood. I’d say ‘Roses’ in the chorus has a gospel music influence.
