Pre-show: Travel + Lines

Commute and venue information

Before the show, you have to of course get there. Getting there is not too hard. The venue is easy to get to. And hard to miss. However, the traffic in LA will always be insufferable. So, make sure to plan ahead.

The venue Hyolyn performed in this time around was at CATCH ONE. Located: 4067 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90019

Once again, these places will be fun. However, the Los Angeles streets are not a part of the venue! So, if you know LA, you know! Just be safe. And that’s any place fr. I was a little worried lining up, but that’s how I am naturally since you cannot trust everyone. Just be safe.

Lines & Security

The line wasn’t too long at all. I would say we lined up for less than hour before doors opened. I think it traffic was worse than the wait in line. Which as soon as the doors opened it, we moved very quickly.

Bag check was simple, quick, and easy! Note to self though, if a concert is held in a club, make sure to bring your ID. Due to me being forgetful, I didn’t bring one. I had an X on my hand for the rest of the night when I was of age. No drinks for me hehe. But I didn’t plan on grabbing one this time around anyways. But I love how thorough the security was. They didn’t give me the other bracelet that showed I was VIP which was scary for a second, but it didn’t change my experience.

One thing I did not like, is I did see some people cut the line. Whether their place was “held” or not from their friends is not a valid excuse. The reason I say this is because the VIP people were mixed with the other tiers and was a fight for your view situation (this was fixed later, but still). Basically, barricade without the barriers. If someone skips the line, it’s almost guaranteed they will be ahead of you. However, that is audience etiquette which will be talked about another time.

Once we entered, we were greeted with a festive staircase. Hyolyn’s concert was held in the Disco room. What’s fascinating about Catch One is how big it is. Like I didn’t really pay attention to that until we continued through the night. I really have to check it out again to see the full thing. If we can, we would love to review the venue further! Hit us up! Right after you go to the bar area which looks like it’s lit during parties, and then the dance floor we were looking for. Sound check was already starting which made sense since they were in a pinch for time. We’ll talk in detail about this later in the shows article.

Surprisingly, the audience was very calm, so we didn’t have many problems getting the view we wanted. Audience etiquette sneaks up again with people inching closer hoping to jump in front of you. That’s always a con with lines at free-standing concerts. Mind you, we stood closer to the back of the invisible vip line and let people who wasn’t as tall as us jump in front of us. All you have to do is ask, it’s not difficult. Most times, we will understand. So, keep that in mind if people without manners bother you. Again, not the venue or events fault.

Catch One is a decently sized club. There was plently of roaming room. And there were 2 events that day that I know of. Hyolyn’s concert and right after being DIA DE LOS MUERTOS REGGAETON PARTY @ CATCH ONE LA.

On their FAQ they explain that “Catch One is a versatile venue with five different event spaces that can host multiple events simultaneously. Be sure to check the event calendar for details on each event.” Meaning technically, it could be like 5 different rooms with different vibes. That’s absolutely fire! And I need to experience this firsthand. Please and thank you!

I was confused at first until I read their signs. And let me tell you, I was disappointed that the audience for that party was more dressed up than the Enchanted Halloween. Like come on BAE! We were supposed to show up and show out. But I realized that everyone has a different way they show up, but that’s a topic for another day. I was also a little upset that there were two events as it kinda made it less wiggle room at the end of the day. I think that the con in the next review is a part of this.

F10$$ rating

FAN: As a fan this is a very exciting experience. I really enjoyed this space as it felt more personal. You can come in enjoy great performances and then go to the bar area and restrooms and still enjoy from there. I really love the layout of the place.

BOSS: As a boss it was pretty easy to get a lot of footage. And I was able to plan out the rest of the day pretty well.

$$$: We didn’t grab any drinks that night, however we did get qa couple of waters. Let me tell you. It was expensive. But let’s be honest Any venue’s refreshments are expensive. And since I was on the verge of fainting, that water was the best water I ever tasted in a long time.

The night isn’t over but this venue is 10/10! Stay tuned for more!
